Texas republicans are frustrated about the number of immigration bills getting a hearing this legislative session. Only a handful have moved to committee, including one this week that targets employers.
State Representative Harold Dutton want to make it a third-degree felony to hired someone who is not a citizen. Other bills, like ones requiring the use of E-Verify to check a worker’s citizenship status, have been sidelined.
