Republicans are seeing some tangible evidence that they are gaining the support of voters in South Texas.
Democrats had anchored much of their strategy to “turn Texas blue” on strong support for their candidates in the Rio Grande Valley. But support for President Donald Trump increased across the board in Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr and Willacy counties, exceeding 40-percent in all four communities.
The chair of the Hidalgo County Republican Party tells KRGV-TV that the GOP now has a seat at the table in South Texas and will continue efforts to persuade voters to vote for Republicans.
