This week’s rainy conditions set some local records but didn’t raise the levels of the area’s two major reservoirs. The National Weather Service says between three and seven inches of rain fell in Hidalgo, Willacy and Cameron counties between Saturday and Wednesday.
Brownsville, Harlingen and McAllen all set new daily records for rainfall on July 1st. The rain didn’t do much for Amistad and Falcon reservoirs, with Amistad up slightly to 30-percent full as of Thursday. Falcon saw a small increase to just over 15-percent full yesterday.
