Rio Grande City Officials Look Into Allegations Of Irregularities In Public Utilities Office

Officials in Rio Grande City are looking into allegations of irregularities in the city’s public utilities office.

On Monday, The Monitor reported that city commissioners were alerted to the irregularities by public utilities director Steven Cruz, who has also expressed his dismay in an interview with El Tejano.

Cruz says he has been able to gather evidence of departmental misconduct mainly with numerous cases of mishandling of vendor contracts since he first took office in January of 2019.
