San Antonio is proceeding with a plan to rename Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard. The City Council’s Governance Committee voted 4-0 on Wednesday to approve the name change back to Durango Boulevard, which was the street’s name until 2011.

Chavez’s name is being erased from public places nationwide after recent revelations of sexual abuse by the late labor leader. The full City Council is expected to vote on the proposed change in August.
