San Juan To Cancel Christmas Festival, Will Still Hold Tree Lighting


Another Rio Grande Valley community is cancelling its Christmas festival in hopes of keeping residents safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The mayor of San Juan announced Wednesday that the Noche De Paz event would not be held this year.

The mayor said he decided to cancel the festival due to the rising number of coronavirus cases in the area. In its place, the city will hold a Christmas tree lighting event on December 1st that will be limited to about 100 people.
