By This week’s freeze has dipped all the way down to South Padre Island, which is home to beloved sea turtles. Crews are working overtime to save them from the cold water. Wendy Knight, who heads the volunteer effort, says that sea turtles are cold-blooded and a freeze leaves them vulnerable to predators and boat strikes. It’s too soon to know how many sea turtles are effected.
