Scammers Posing As Hidalgo County Deputies Try Getting People’s Money

Officials in Hidalgo County alert to scammers impersonating officers on the hunt for people’s money. The report Saturday says the impersonators call people to say they are Hidalgo County deputies attempting to remove warrants in exchange for cash to be deposited into an account at Walmart or CVS.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s office says anyone targeted should not comply and instead report the incident since real officers don’t solicit cash payments by phone.
