Now that Texas lawmakers have passed a bill to re-draw the state’s congressional boundaries, they’re moving on to a handful of other GOP priorities.

One is a plan to get rid of the STAAR test in public schools and replace it with three smaller tests.

State Representative Gina Hinajosa says that’s sucking the fun out of school. But backers say that replacing one test with three tests would take the stress off students. And, they argue, it would give teachers a better way to track student success.
