Senate Republicans are moving forward with a budget resolution that would fund ICE.
The GOP lawmakers used a process called budget reconciliation, which requires only a simple majority vote to fund immigration agencies with no need for Democratic support. They kicked off a marathon “vote-a-rama” session Wednesday, where Senate Democrats could add an unlimited number of amendments to be voted on.
The resolution was eventually adopted 50-48 in the middle of the night. Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska were the only Republicans to vote no.
