An elderly couple and their daughter were the victims of what Cameron County sheriff’s officials say was a double murder and suicide at a home near San Benito.
Deputies were called to the rural home south of San Benito a little before 8 a.m. Tuesday by neighbors who saw a man lying on the driveway outside the home. Deputies found the man with a gunshot wound to his head and holding a revolver. Inside the home, they found the man’s wife and daughter also shot to death.
Dead are 83-year-old Jesus Villareal and 74-year-old Maria Alaniz Villareal, and the couple’s daughter, 41-year-old Crystal Villareal. All three lived in the home together.
