South Padre Island’s Hospital Project Moves Forward

A project to build a new hospital on South Padre Island is moving forward. Construction could start as early as July on the new SPI Medical Center on the corner of Mesquite Street and South Padre Boulevard.

Chief Medical Officer Doctor Richard Joe Ybarra says once work is finished the new clinic will offer full time professional care from a staff of doctors and nurses, emergency room services, ten patient beds, imaging including x-ray and MRI, a helicopter pad and more. The mini hospital is expected to open in the Fall of 2022.
