A group of mayors is unhappy with recent immigration raids at small businesses in South Texas.

A statement issued Thursday by the South Texas Alliance of Cities criticized federal authorities for a lack of communication and coordination with local leaders. The statement said the lack of transparency has led to confusion, concern and disruptions at small businesses that are the backbone of the local economy.

The group urged better communication so that local authorities can lead effectively and clearly. The STAC includes the mayors of McAllen, Mission, Edinburg, Brownsville, Harlingen, San Antonio and Laredo.
