SpaceX is responding to the Mexican government’s threat to take legal action over a rocket explosion at the company’s South Texas launch facility.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum claimed Wednesday that debris from the explosion has “contaminated” northern Mexico and that international laws are being violated.

SpaceX pushed back on that claim in a social media post yesterday, saying any debris that wound up in Mexico is non-toxic. The post went on to say that SpaceX has asked Mexican authorities for help recovering debris related to last week’s explosion, as well as “validation” of the company’s right to conduct recovery operations.
