The City of Starbase is proposing a big jump in the property tax rate. Property owners in the city currently pay 55 cents per 100 dollars of assessed value.
A proposal discussed Wednesday would raise the tax rate by about 25 cents. Officials say the new rate is the maximum allowed without needing voter approval.
