Cameron County will work with the City of Starbase to help preserve dunes on Boca Chica Beach. The interlocal agreement allows Starbase to begin dune restoration efforts along a mile-long section of the beach within the city’s jurisdiction.
The city and the county will work together to identify priority areas and start programs to rehabilitate and preserve those dunes. Officials hope the agreement will prompt additional study and unlock more funding for the project.
