State Board Proposes Sex Ed Policy With No Mention Of Consent Or LGBTQ

The Texas State Board of Education is proposing a sex education policy that reportedly doesn’t mention consent, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

The 15-member Republican-led board took a preliminary vote on Wednesday on the first overhaul of its sex ed policy since 1997. If it’s approved, then starting in 2022, Texas seventh- and eighth-graders will learn about other types of birth control than abstinence. The final vote is set for Friday.
