Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the Trump administration will work to aggressively revoke visas for Chinese students.
Rubio announced Wednesday that students who would have their visas canceled would include those who have ties to the Chinese Communist Party or those studying in critical fields.
Rubio added the State Department will revise criteria to enhance scrutiny of all future visa applications from China, including Hong Kong. He did not say what fields of study would be targeted.
The move aligns with President Trump’s broader attack on college admissions, where he’s pushing to limit international student enrollment.
