Students In High-Demand Fields Get Tuition Break From Texas Legislature

Several bills passed in this year’s Texas legislative session will give tuition breaks or help with loans to college students in high-demand jobs.

Senate Bill 646 provides assistance to students studying to become mental health professionals. House Bill 1105 offers incentives to paramedic students, in an effort to rebuild the state’s supply of EMS workers after the pandemic.

A couple of House bills are aimed at students planning to enlist in the military, in order to help the state and the nation meet their recruitment goals.
