Study: Americans Drank, Smoked More, Exercised Less During Pandemic

A new study says Americans drank and smoked more, exercised less and logged more screen time after the pandemic hit.

Researchers at UCLA found alcohol consumption increased by 23-percent and smoking by nine-percent, compared to pre-pandemic levels. Exercise fell by almost a third and screen time jumped by 60-percent.

The study says almost 80-percent of Americans looked at a screen for more than four hours a day during the pandemic.
