The Texas Department of Public Safety is reporting a laser strike on a DPS helicopter assisting Harris County deputies with a manhunt on Tuesday. The laser strike reportedly put the pilots at risk by creating a blinding light.
The helicopter crew spotted the man who was on the run, and deputies arrested him. Officials haven’t stated why the man was wanted, or whether he’s the one suspected of using the laser. Pointing a laser at an aircraft can result in federal charges, prison time, and heavy fines.
