Suspect Charged In Late-February Killing Of San Juan Woman


After a more than week-long investigation, a suspect has been charged in the killing of a San Juan woman. 35-year-old Moises Herrera Pena was brought before a judge Saturday on charges of murder and evidence tampering in the death of 65-year-old Rosalinda Garcia.

Garcia was found dead in her home on the 1200 block of East Texas Avenue February 25th. Pena was arrested during a traffic stop following an investigation that involved Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies, DPS investigators, U.S. Marshals, and the FBI. Authorities are not yet saying how Garcia was killed nor disclosing any other details about the case.
