State Representative James Talarico is the winner of Tuesday’s Democratic primary for US Senate.

As of Tuesday night, Talarico, a state House member from Austin, had about 53 percent of the vote, while US Representative Jasmine Crockett of Dallas trailed at 46 percent. A third candidate had a little more than one percent.

Since Talarico scored more than 50 percent of the vote, it won’t be necessary for him and Crockett to face each other in a runoff in May.
