A dozen state police agents are in custody in Tamaulipas for their alleged role in a mass murder. In a media event late Tuesday in the state capital of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas Attorney General Doctor Irving Barrios Mojica said the arrests come after an extensive investigation into the murders of 19 people.
The victims’ bodies were found on January 22nd near Ciudad Camargo on the other side of the border from Rio Grande City.
The investigation found that the victims were part of a human smuggling effort. If found guilty, the accused could get from 20-to 50-years behind bars for each victim.
