The Texas Education Agency is warning school leaders that there may be consequences for allowing students to join in walkouts to protest ICE.
The agency warned on Tuesday that it may sanction teachers who help students leave class to participate in political activism, and may intervene with school districts that ignore state attendance requirements.
Guidance from the state agency says teachers who encourage or help students skip class may be reported to the State Board for Educator Certification for possible revocation of their teaching license.
