School officials are applauding the state’s new ban on cell phones in public K-12 schools. Administrators in more than 12-hundred Texas school districts have enacted different policies to implement the state ban.

Officials say they generally haven’t experienced the pushback they expected from students and parents. They say students have become more engaged, both in and outside the classrooms, and are having conversations with each other that involve eye contact.
