Texas GOP Moves To Bar Trans Women From Women’s School Sports Teams

Texas Republicans are trying to keep transgender women from playing on women’s school sports teams.

State representative Valoree Swanson filed a bill requiring the separation of athletics teams based on biological sex.

The bill would apply to students in Texas in K-through-12 public schools, colleges and universities. Swanson described the bill as a “common sense measure” to keep male athletes from “robbing” women of championship trophies and educational opportunities.
