The war in Iran is leading to a global shortage in helium, much of which comes through the Strait of Hormuz. But experts say that Texas could save the day.

Phil Kornbluth, who runs a consulting firm, says there are two caverns near Beaumont that are full of the gas. That supply, he says, can be sent to Kansas, where much of the nation’s helium refineries are located. The gas is used in computer chip manufacturing and MRI machines.
