Texas House Approves Bill Making It Harder For Violent Offenders To Post Bond


The Texas House is giving its final approval to a bill that makes it harder for defendants with a history of criminal violence to gain bond. After Tuesday’s vote passing HB-20, people attending the Houston Crime Stoppers Gala Luncheon greeted the news with enthusiasm.

Critics claim the reform discriminates against low-income defendants. That concern doesn’t impress the families of 116 Harris County residents murdered by repeat violent offenders who were released on bond.
