The Texas House Republican Caucus is moving to make life more difficult for quorum breakers. Caucus members voted on Monday to increase the fines for House members who break quorum, and to strip them of any committee leadership roles.

The vote is in response to the dozens of Democrats who fled the state earlier this month in an effort to obstruct a vote on a redistricting plan put forth by Republicans. The proposed changes to House rules won’t take effect unless the full House votes to adopt them.
