By Governor Greg Abbott enjoys robust support from labor unions in his bid for reelection. A couple of Teamsters groups representing 40 thousand workers statewide endorsed Abbott last week, along with several other unions representing various industries.
The Republican governor says the endorsements indicate a historic break by organized labor from the Democratic Party. State Representative Gina Hinojosa of Austin, the Democratic candidate, is supported by the Service Employees International Union of Texas and the Texas AFL-CIO.
