Thirty public radio stations in Texas are struggling financially ever since the Trump administration cut funding to public broadcasting. Senate Democrats have estimated Texas public radio and TV stations could lose almost 18 million dollars.

Station directors are reluctant to lay off staff or cut programs before they know how severe the impact of the funding cuts will be. Public radio stations have always relied on the public for much of their support. Now they’ll have to close the funding gap without wearing out their welcome with donors.
