Texas Representatives Pushing For STAAR Cancellation

Texas House representatives are hoping the Texas Education Agency will cancel this year’s STAAR exam. Almost 70 Republicans and Democrats sent a letter to the TEA this week, saying the agency should ask the federal government for a waiver allowing the cancellation due to the pandemic.

Gov. Greg Abbott said earlier this year the STAAR test grade promotion requirement for 5th and 8th graders has been waived due to the pandemic.
