A Cesar Chavez Day event that was planned at Texas State University is called off.

A TSU spokesperson confirmed a lecture scheduled at the Center for the Study of the Southwest was canceled after claims of rape and child sex abuse against the labor activist came to light earlier this month. There is no other activity is planned to take the place of the lecture.

Governor Greg Abbott says Texas will no longer observe Cesar Chavez Day, which has been a state holiday on March 31st since 2000.
