Texas Universities Stuck Between Federal Vaccine Mandate And State Mandate Ban

Many universities in Texas are trying to find wiggle room between a federal vaccine mandate and a state ban on vaccine mandates by employers.

The Biden administration has required all federal contractors to be vaccinated by December 8th. Texas universities hold billions of dollars in federal contracts among them.

Several Texas public universities managed by Gov. Greg Abbott’s appointees say they’re evaluating Biden’s order. A University of Houston spokesperson says the White House won’t excuse noncompliance.
