Thousands of employees of the Department of Homeland Security are in danger of missing a federal deadline to get vaccinated against COVID-19. According to The Monitor, an internal DHS email sent to employees on Monday shows that 30-percent of DHS workers have yet to be vaccinated or request an exemption. Federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated or request a medical or religious exemption by November 22nd. Border Patrol agents, Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigators and operations staff at U.S. ports of entry are among the employees that fall under the Homeland Security umbrella. The email did not specify what action might be taken against employees who decide not to be vaccinated.
