Toyota Defends Donations To GOP Who Voted Against Certifying Presidential Vote

Toyota is the latest company to get dragged into politics as the automaker is defending its donations to some Republicans who voted against certifying the 2020 presidential election.

A company spokeswoman said Sunday evening the company doesn’t believe it’s appropriate to judge members of Congress for that one vote. This came after Axios reported on Sunday that Toyota donated a total of 55-thousand dollars to 37 of the 147 Republicans who voted against certifying President Biden’s victory.

In a statement, the company said it did not give money to the 90 other members who, “through their statements and actions, undermine the legitimacy of our elections and institutions.”
