Trial Date Set For Weslaco Fraud Defendants

Three men accused of a scheme to con the city of Weslaco out of millions of dollars now know when they will be tried.

A U.S. District Court judge announced Thursday that Arturo Cuellar, Ricardo Quintanilla and Daniel Garcia will face a jury trial in late April on bribery charges. The three men are accused of using money from three engineering and construction firms to bribe Weslaco officials.

The companies were seeking contracts to renovate Weslaco’s water treatment plant, a project valued at more than 38-million-dollars.
