A trial date has been set for a Navy sailor accused of killing a petty officer from South Texas.
A hearing for Jermiah Copeland was held earlier this week at Virginia’s Naval Station Norfolk. Copeland is accused of killing 21-year-old Angelina Resendiz of Brownsville in late May.
The judge overseeing the case denied a motion to change venue and set the trial start date for the first week of June.
Copeland is facing multiple charges, including murder, rape, sexual assault, making false statements and obstruction of justice.
