President Trump is reportedly thinking about raising income taxes on wealthy Americans. Several media outlets say Trump is considering the tax hike to help pay for the larger tax breaks he enacted in 2017, which are set to expire next year.
The new proposal would raise taxes on people who earn more than two-and-a-half-million dollars a year from 37 percent to just under 40 percent, which is where they were before the 2017 tax breaks. The budget package currently being debated in Congress would extend those tax breaks.
