Two candidates have filed paperwork to enter the Edinburg mayor’s race. Former Mayor Richard Molina filed on Monday. Molina ran for re-election in 2021 but was defeated by current Mayor Ramiro Garza.

Edinburg attorney Omar Ochoa also filed his paperwork on Monday. Ochoa served as Edinburg’s city attorney for six years. Garza announced earlier this year that he would not run for re-election after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
