Two Of Three Brownsville City Races Move To Runoff Elections


Two of the three city commission races in Brownsville are going to runoffs. Either Roy De Los Santos or Jessica Puente Bradshaw will be the new District 3 commissioner.

De Los Santos finished Saturday’s election with the most votes with 45 percent while Puente Bradshaw received 38 percent. District 4 Commissioner Ben Neece will be challenged in a runoff by Pedro Cardenas, who finished ahead of the incumbent. Cardenas ended with 40 percent of the vote, while Neece took 35 percent.

In the At-Large B contest, Dr. Rose Gowen fended off 2 challengers to get re-elected to a fourth term, winning 53 percent of the vote.
