Texas Governor Greg Abbott says he will veto part of the budget allocating money for the legislative branch.

The Republican tweeted this afternoon the veto is needed because people who “abandon their responsibilities” don’t deserve to be paid. He is referring to House Democrats leaving the floor to prevent votes on election security legislation critics believe restricts the ability to vote.

Austin Democrat Representative Donna Howard blasted Abbott’s tweet, saying it basically creates a monarchy.
