TxDOT: Texas Needs More Public Transit Options For Growing Population

The Texas Department of Transportation says Texans will need more public transportation as the state continues to grow.

TxDOT released its Statewide Multimodal Transit Plan last month, which points out that the state’s population is growing faster than its ability to add more freeway lanes.

Both cities and rural areas will need more travel options, including rail that connects the state’s major urban areas. Texas is on pace to add more than nine million new residents by 2050.
