UK Variant Of Virus Turns Up In Austin


Local health authorities report that the UK coronavirus variant is now in Austin. Officials with Austin Public Health announced Wednesday evening that a private testing organization discovered and confirmed a case of the variant in a lab. The finding was reported to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Officials say the variant has probably been in the area for weeks, noting that a Harris County man tested positive for the UK variant even though he hadn’t recently traveled.
