An unsuccessful GOP candidate for Harris County Judge plans to run for the US Congress. Alexandra del Moral Mealer contested the results of the 2022 election she lost to Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo. She announced her candidacy for Texas’ newly redrawn 9th Congressional District on Monday.
The seat is currently held by longtime Democratic US Representative Al Green. Mealer is an Army veteran who defused bombs while on duty in Afghanistan. She currently serves as the public safety chair for the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
