UTRGV Students Conduct Archeological Dig At McAllen School

Three University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley students are looking for historical objects at a former McAllen school. The students began an archeological dig on the Bonham Elementary School campus yesterday.

The McAllen school district hired the students to conduct the dig because the property may be near an indigenous burial site. The site survey is needed to meet federal requirements before the district can sell the property to the Boys & Girls Club of McAllen.
