A former school police officer in Uvalde, Texas has been found not guilty of failing to protect students during a 2022 mass shooting that killed 21 people.

The verdict came after about seven hours of jury deliberations, following a two-week trial that looked into whether Adrian Gonzales failed in his duty as an officer at Robb Elementary School. Gonzales pleaded not guilty to 29 counts of child abandonment or endangerment.
