The president of Villanova University says reports of an active shooter on campus were “a cruel hoax.”
Police responded to the Pennsylvania school late Thursday afternoon during the first day of orientation after students were alerted to a possible active shooter.
About two hours later, university president Peter Donohue sent students an email saying there was no active shooter, no injuries and no evidence of firearms on campus. There’s no word who was responsible for the false report.
