The average San Antonio Water System customer can expect a higher water bill under a proposed rate increase. The utility is considering a set of rate hikes that could raise the average monthly residential bill from 60 dollars to 79 dollars by 2029, an increase of nearly 32 percent.

SAWS trustees considered the proposal in a presentation on Tuesday by SAWS Executive V-P and CFO Doug Evanson. The plan would need the approval of the board and the San Antonio City Council. Council members may not vote on the proposal until April.
